The ISIAT 2019 which took place in Lisbon at the beginning of October, was the occasion for Labrha to display two posters about the rheological properties of Hyaluronic Acid : “Unresolved Questions About Viscosupplementation”.
The aim of this study was to assess if the skin disinfection and the needle size could impact the rheological properties of Hyaluronic acid + mannitol.
Does skin disinfection impact the rheological properties of our viscosupplements?
The rheological behaviour of HAppyCross® and HAppyVisc® is not impacted when an antiseptic from the family of QAS is used to disinfect the injection site before viscosupplementation.
Viscoelastic properties depend on both HA MW and concentration.
The HA concentration is not modified – No structural change of the HA macromolecule.
Does the needle size modify the rheological properties of our viscosupplements ?
The needle length and diameter do not modify the rheological behaviour of HAppyCross® and HAppyVisc®.
Viscoelastic properties depend on both HA MW and concentration.
The HA concentration is not modified – HA is not depolymerized during viscosupplementation, regardless of the needle characteristics.
